Last month, the MSU Construction Management Program was selected by the National Academy of Sciences Airport Cooperative Research Program to conduct research on “Integrating Collaborative Partnering into Traditional Airport Construction Projects.”

On Sept. 19, 2016, interior design seniors were given details on a project to redesign a historic home on the campus of Michigan State University. This project would be unlike any other they had worked on, because the students were being called upon by MSU’s President Lou Anna K. Simon to envision a redesign of Cowles House.

SPDC Environmental design grad student Hebatalla Nazmy has big plans after selection for ESPP’s Summer Research Fellowship for Urban Environments. Her project is titled, “Residential Interior Design and its Reflection on Urban Environment.”

In 2016, 32 students from the LA Program received awards from the Michigan chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (MI ASLA), and program endowments and scholarships.

Traverse City, MI, is the kind of success story we really like to hear about at the National Charrette Institute at MSU. . . After the training, Soyring and Sych contacted NCI seeking advice on how to create a replicable process for doing a series of corridor charrettes [for the 8th Street corridor]. They engaged NCI to teach them how to conduct a Co-Writing Intensive workshop to assess and organize the project for a Request for Proposals.

The MSU Department of Entomology is hosting a number of events during National Pollinator Week to educate the public on the state of pollinators and pollination in Michigan. Our annual fun event for families is the Bee Palooza at the MSU Horticulture Gardens on Sunday, June 18 from 1-4 p.m. This event is for all ages and is a free, fun and educational afternoon of interactive activities centered on understanding the wonderful world of pollinators.

Michigan State University Department Entomology professors David Smitley and Rufus Isaacs were honored by the North Central Branch of the Entomological Society of America in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 4-7. Smitley was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award in Horticultural Entomology and Isaacs was honored with the Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management.

In May, MSU Construction Management (CM) Program faculty members Sinem Mollaoglu, PhD, and Matt Syal, PhD, were presented with Emerald Publishing’s Emerald Literati Award for Highly Commended Paper for their co-authored paper, titled “Diffusion of Green Building Guidelines as Innovation in Developing Countries.” They have also been nominated for the Outstanding Paper Award, along with their co-authors Citra Chergia and Esin Ergen from the Civil Engineering Department at Istanbul Technical University in Turkey.
